The Eggplant is purely metaphorical of course. Jenni Ferrari-Adler has beaten me to it - she's got together a group of remarkably talented people to write about their experiences with food and aloneness; i.e. eating by oneself, cooking for oneself and suchlike. This was the book I was going to write! Sigh...
So anyway the next best thing is to own it of course and now I do and I couldn't put the purple thing down last night so I read and read until my eyes gave out at five a.m. and finally crawled out of bed at seven dark rimmed and bloodshot-eyed. Will. stop. sentence. now.
